The Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) collects and analyses socio-economic and biomedical life course data from people aged 50 and over and provides the internationally comparable longitudinal microdata for scientific research. As Europe's largest social science panel study with so far approx.140,000 respondents SHARE is one of the major European research infrastructures in the field of social sciences. In 2011SHARE became the first European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC).

The SHARE BERLIN Institute GmbH (SBI) was founded in 2022 by the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB), the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the German Centre of Gerontology (DZA). This institution is intended to give the central coordination of SHARE and the associated research, which is based in Germany, a permanent home in Berlin. The SBI and SHARE-ERIC work closely together on all questions of implementation and scientific further development of the research infrastructure.

We intend to recruit a

Survey Researcher (f/m/d)

Part-time or full-time, minimum 25 hours per week, initially limited until December 31st 2024 with prospective for contractual renewal.

Your area of responsibility:

  • Supporting the project team “Investigating Consent Rates for Linking Survey and Administrative Data in a Multilingual, Multinational, and Multicultural Context.
  • Cleaning and analysing collected data.
  • Contributing to drafting of papers and reports and engaging in various project-related activities.
  • Taking initiative to explore and develop personal research ideas, actively contributing to the advancement of the field by drafting papers on substantive or methodological topics.
  • Supporting the switch from pure face-to-face interviewing to a mix with other survey modes (mixed-mode design), including a more flexible frequency interviewing

Your profile:

  • University degree (Master's or PhD) in a relevant field, such as social sciences, psychology, economics, public health, epidemiology, demography, statistics
  • Knowledge in quantitative data analysis using statistical software (preferably Stata)
  • Interest in methodological research with focus on consent to record linkage.
  • Strong team, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English; other languages are welcome.
